Vi har siden 1988 samarbejdet omkring danseteater som instruktører, koreografer og kunstneriske ledere af danseteatergruppen c i r k .

Det vigtigste for os er at skabe fortællinger, som engagerer den enkelte beskuer.
Ved hjælp af enkel symbolik og stærke sanseindtryk prøver vi at gå ind og røre den enkelte person og gøre dem til en del af forestillingens fortælling. For at opnå det søger vi at skabe stemningsmættede og associations-rige forestillinger som fanger og sætter beskuerens fantasi i gang.

Vi har altid i vores sceneudtryk stræbt efter vores eget sprog indenfor danseteater.
Vi bruger dans-teater-billedsymbolik og det abstrakt optrædende udtryk. Det bliver til forestillinger, der bedst beskrives som "Dansende Digte".

Vores træning og inspiration er hentet fra mange udtryks- og kunstformer: Butoh, Release, Flamingo, Odinteateret, Kung fu, billede/filmkunstens sprog, skulpturens og digtets poesi.
Musikken spiller en væsentlig rolle i vores forestillinger idet Lars Wellejus komponerer, specielt til hver enkelt forestilling. Vi arbejder tæt sammen både om koreografi og musik, hvilket er med til at skabe et samlet scenisk udtryk.

I alle vores opsætninger arbejder vi med en blanding af dansere, performere og skuespillere, da vi lægger vægt på en teatralsk form i vores danseforestillinger.
I mange af vores stykker lader vi os inspirere af den enkelte performers personlighed og talent og udbygger rollerne undervejs i processen.

CIRK creates Dance-Theatre.

Together they create the concept of the performance, they work in intense cooperation throughout the creative process and during each performance. They have now been working together for over 12 years, one of their aims are, and has been all the time, to break the roles between them, the musician makes choreography and the choreographer makes music, or they do it together, all the shows CIRK has produced has been done this way, by these two people, they also creates the ideas for scenography and costumes, light design etc.

It's stagings where the inspiration has been taken from many different variations of art; The theatre, martial arts, the language of pictures, the poetry of sculptures, performed in a wide and dramatical sequence.

They are trying very hard to have a "now" appeal, wich means the dance/move language is not classical as in bournonville, but more their own language, as they would like to see it on the stage.

You will see poems on stage, chains of associations, or even narrative patterns of action, where the story and the prose gradually takes over and gives the poem overtones.The strong images that dance/movements, music, and light creates, communicates sensations and associations in the same way poetry can guide us into other worlds.

Cirk belongs to the thriving part of Copenhagen's culture, the cultural growth where new ideas and forms arise - Cirk is in constant movement.
